Ever wonder why we have this day?

Dr Michael AG Haykin has a wonderful and timely post on St Patrick here.

Whoever said history is irrelevant? Now next time you'll have an answer when someone says, "Why do we have St Patrick's day? Who is this Patrick guy anyway?"

Interesting that even the Saint himself regarded Ireland as "the uttermost part of the earth"! :)

Well, there's no accounting for anyone from anywhere in that part of the world. :)

But seriously though, I can't help but wonder what it would do for local evangelistic zeal if more people would view their own neighbourhoods as "the uttermost parts of the earth" (at least in terms of redemptive-history and the spread of the gospel).

May God raise up many "Patrick"s in our day!
